Is Your Budget Prepared for RPS Increases?

Recent Maine legislation increased the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) requirements of utilities, which leads to costlier energy from suppliers.

While we don't know the extent of what suppliers will do with their prices in Maine yet, we do expect it to echo last year's Massachusetts' laws, which raised RPS prices by 191% from 2013 through 2019.

Fortunately, language in Maine's legislation allows energy buyers to lock-in the current RPS price on future contracts
before the legislation goes into effect on September 19th, 2019.
